The Campaign

By coming together as one community, grounded in respect and shared purpose, we can move forward with confident, thoughtful action that serves everyone.

This message isn’t just a slogan—it’s a vision for inclusive leadership and collaborative progress.

LOVE IS ONE COMMUNITY. LEADING US TOGETHER.

Strengthening Arvada Starts at the Roots

Homelessness

  • Rebecka is actively addressing homelessness as a critical regional concern, emphasizing the need for collaboration to develop lasting solutions rather than simply relocating the issue. Her goal is to make visible progress on homelessness throughout Arvada, not just in specific areas.

She bravely takes a stand on important issues and her strong background in operations and community engagement allows her to take passionate action towards a solution. She developing a clear picture of the current initiatives by bridging the gap between the City of Arvada and invested parties, including nonprofits, first responders, faith leaders, local businesses, and individuals with lived experience.

  • The draft Arvada Homelessness Action Strategy includes a goal to use better data to track progress and make improvements over time.

The plan includes several steps: making sure the City and its partners are collecting accurate, up-to-date information on each person experiencing homelessness; including data reporting in contracts with service providers; tracking how much money the City spends on homeless services; and working with others—like health care providers and schools—to share important data.

In short, the goal is to use clear, reliable information to guide decisions and make sure the City is doing everything it can to reduce homelessness.

To understand homelessness in Arvada you need to look at the current data. Another great resource to better understand homelessness in Arvada is the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative.

Housing

  • Rebecka advocates for land use policies and mixed-use development that strengthens neighborhoods from within, rather than contributing to sprawl, and she sees public-private partnerships as key to expanding opportunities for moderate-income families. She is committed to making housing and land use decisions clear, transparent, and community-driven. She believes residents deserve a voice in how their neighborhoods grow and evolve. She will prioritize clarity and education—translating complex policies into tools that empower residents to participate meaningfully in the planning process.

She understands that there is an opportunity cost to every decision made and is deeply engaged in studying the Land Development Code, zoning maps, and community surveys to inform her decisions. Mindful growth means aligning development with transit infrastructure, preserving the city’s character, and investing where it counts—around transit corridors and areas already identified in the city’s strategic plans.

Rebecka is running to make sure decisions are made with the community, not just for it. Through neighborhood listening sessions, town halls, she will create real opportunities for residents to shape the future of their city.

  • Arvada’s plans for future growth are guided by the 2024 City Council Strategic Plan and the 2014 Comprehensive Plan, which together aim to help Arvada grow into a more complete and balanced community. These plans focus on smart growth—like creating more housing options, supporting local jobs, and improving transportation—while moving away from Arvada’s past as mainly a suburban, residential city.

As most vacant land is already developed, the City is now focusing on reusing land within existing neighborhoods and near transit stations. The city has set yearly goals to increase affordable housing and offer more variety in housing types, like townhomes and apartments.

The draft Homelessness Action Strategy supports this by focusing on long-term housing stability, including more supportive housing options. All of these plans use updated rules, strong partnerships, and better data to guide decisions and track progress toward building a vibrant and inclusive Arvada.

City & School Board

  • Rebecka sees incredible potential in the young people of Arvada and she believes it's time to bring their voices together in a more powerful, united way. While programs like the Apex Youth Advisory Board and the National Civics Bee already create space for youth engagement, they often operate separately.

She proposes a city-supported group or Youth Engagement Committee, that brings students, educators, and community partners together to amplify voices and vision.

This commission or committee would be a place where young people help shape city projects, lead community conversations, and advise on policies that impact their lives. It would support existing programs, create new leadership opportunities, and ensure students from all backgrounds have a chance to be heard and involved. This is not just about civic education. It is about trust, inclusion, and preparing the next generation to lead with confidence and care.

When we listen to our youth, we do more than invest in their future. We acknowledge it is borrowed and we are responsible for protecting it.

  • The City of Arvada actively fosters youth engagement through various programs and partnerships, providing teens with opportunities to participate in local governance and community development.

One notable initiative is the Youth Advisory Board established by the Apex Park and Recreation District. Targeting students in grades 6 through 12 within the Arvada area, this board empowers youth to address their needs and concerns while collaborating with local organizations, schools, and community leaders. The board's mission is to guide the Apex Park and Recreation District in creating a community that supports the physical, social, and emotional well-being of our youth.

Additionally, the Arvada Chamber of Commerce has launched the 2024 National Civics Bee®, a competition designed to encourage middle school students to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Participants begin with a civics essay competition, and top finalists advance to a live quiz event, promoting civic knowledge and engagement among young residents .
